The list below will give you an overview of our volunteer opportunities. However, if you have a special skill or talent that you feel would be beneficial to our organization, please note that on the volunteer application..

Dog Socialization & Enrichment

Walking our rehab dogs in town and on hiking trails allows important socialization and exercise. Training is available.

Equine Walking

Walking our rescue horses and providing groundwork allows important socialization and exercise. Training is available.

Administrative

Help us keep Pets Return Home on track. Administrative staff routinely need assistance with data entry, writing thank you notes, filing, phone calls, and other clerical tasks or special projects. Training is available.

Adoption/Foster Follow-up Calls

Each and every person who adopts an animal from Pets Return Home will receive an adoption follow-up call. All of our foster parents are contacted routinely to check on the progress and needs of their dogs. Be an important part of our pet retention efforts! Training is available.

General Center Activities

Pets Return Home is a big place filled with an abundance of big and small jobs that we always need help with! There are several general activities that are always available for volunteers. Examples include laundry, cleaning and other necessary tasks. Training is available.

Journey-Home Events

Journey Home is our offsite adoption & foster programs. It is essential to helping our healing dogs find forever families. Every weekend, we take dogs to locations such as Tractor Supply, Petsense, Petsmart and various community events. Volunteers will help set-up and tear down, care for the animals, talk to potential adopters and make sure the animals shine. Training is available.

Special Events

We often hold special events at the center or in the community. They are essential in raising funds to support our mission and raising awareness to find homes for the dogs we serve. Volunteers are needed to fill various roles at these event. Training is available.

Foster Care

Foster Care is an essential lifesaving program.  In foster care our dogs learn valuable in home skills and socialization skills.  Without the courageous and caring foster parents some of our dogs could never be assessed and rehabilitated as needed. Volunteers are always needed to serve as foster caregivers in their homes.  As a foster caregiver, you care for the animal(s) in your home until they are ready for adoption. Pets Return Home will cover all medical costs. All foster caregivers are placed on an “on-call” list. As foster situations arise, volunteers are contacted to help. Training is available.

Hiking-Companions

Do you enjoy hiking? Do you want a buddy to hike with you? Then the Hiking-Companions Program might be for you.

Hiking-Companions is a great opportunity for those who want to help our dogs but aren’t able to commit to regular volunteering. Dogs who participate in Hiking-Companions learn basic social skills, get some much needed exercise, and experience a break from the ranch. People who participate in Hiking-Companions enjoy the companionship of a dog and can feel good that they are helping to prepare these dogs for their new homes.
